The British Medical Association estimates that 30% of boys and 40% of girls will be obese by 2020. Equally worrying is that an obese teenager is 70% more likely to become an obese adult, with an increased chance of heart disease, diabetes, cancer and premature death. Scolarest is committed to helping young people eat well, learn well and live well, through the continued development of healthy menu offerings and a comprehensive programme of interactive, fun-based educational initiatives. Over the last two years Scolarest, in partnership with its trusted suppliers, has continued to replace vended confectionery items with nutritious alternatives such as cereal bars, dried fruits, milk-based and fruit-based drinks, mineral waters and delicious fruit smoothies. Additionally, Scolarest continues to develop new, exciting and healthy ‘food-on-the-go’ concepts such as ‘Filling Station’; a mobile service specifically for secondary schools, offering an exciting range of hot or cold snacks, shaker salads, fruit bags, yoghurts and healthy drinks.
Scolarest’s holistic approach to healthy eating is designed to help make
a real difference to the nation’s young people … because every child
matters. Scolarest sets the standards for a modern dining service in further education, providing a foodservice to meet today’s students’ requirements. Our specifically targeted products, value-for-money food promotions and investment in college catering facilities, are aimed at the provision of a nil subsidy, value-for-money choice for students. In a marketplace that is competing with schools' sixth forms, attractive, high street led recreational and social areas allow further education colleges to attract students that may otherwise stay on at school. With a focus on understanding the needs of the marketplace, through investment in ongoing market research studies, Scolarest aims to provide a value-for-money service that adds to the students’ overall experience on campus. |
